Sophy Chang is a South Korean-born, New York-based, interdisciplinary artist working primarily in soft sculpture and installation. She holds a BFA degree from School of Visual Arts (NY, 2019) and an MFA from University of Delaware (DE, 2024.) Her work has been exhibited internationally in South Korea, China, the U.S., Chile, and Switzerland.
Her work explores the dynamics of interaction within coexistence, weaving threads between vulnerability and defense, self and others, and visualizing the unseen labor that sustains it. Working across soft sculpture, installation, and painting, she creates tactile environments that oscillate between comfort and unease. Drawing on personal narratives as well as broader social contexts, my practice transforms emotional exposure into an act of solidarity, offering glimpses into the possibility of a warmer, more compassionate way of living together despite all our differences.
